"Hope strengthens. Fear kills."
I stayed up late last night finishing my annual, Christmas vacation reread of Karen Marie Moning's Fever series. I heart Mac and Barrons. So much. In fact, I would bet a batch of chocolate chip cookies that Barrons is the jerkiest, yet most loved hero out there. And he has the best lines. The kind that make me melt no matter how many times I read them. Le sigh. Should such a man exist in real life, I'm not sure how we'd all survive.
Goodbye, my dear sweet Barrons. I bid you adieu until July and the release of BURNED.
(FINALLY!!)
I bought this on a whim, because of that cover. Wouldn't you? I balked a little at the price, since $4.88 seems steep for a self pub that isn't well known. However, I was intrigued with the premise and I went ahead and bought it anyway.
After reading this, I think I've decided that I prefer the self-published version of KA. I loved Shy and Tabby, and I loved their story. I was left wanting.. more, I guess. Maybe it's just because I came into this book right off her Colorado Mtn series, which I believe are all over 500 pages. Each of the couples in that book were their own individual people outside of the relationship. KA went into depth about buying sheets, making crafts, building homes together, the town and the family, etc. Didn't get that in Own the Wind. I would have loved more detail about Tabby's job. Maybe seen her hang out with her girl friends.
This was all right. Wasn't my favorite out of everything she's written, but it was still enjoyable to read. There wasn't any real conflict, I thought. At least not anything that could be overcome by actually talking to each other instead of assuming random crap that isn't true. And the two MC's were only okay. They didn't make me fall in love with them, and I only had a passing interest in their HEA.
Really good. I loved Ander's character, but was sort of ambivalent about Lori. Definitely an enjoyable read though!
LOVED!! I truly, truly loved this book. Nicholas was just so deliciously tortured, and I admit I teared up through a good portion of the book. Ahem.
Didn't like this one as much as Motorcycle Man. Not enough page time devoted to the couple being happy. Also, the way the author set up the beginning annoyed the crap out of me. All that back and forth crap.. yuck. Just wanted her to get to the point already.
This book WRECKED me. In a good way of course, but still. About 80% in I was a sobbing, snotty mess. Awesome, awesome book. Definitely going on my favorites list for the year!
This series is so agonizing.. In a good way, of course, but still. Will Gwen ever defeat Loki? And Logan.. SOB.
Holy effin' $%@!. The ending is.. TORTUROUS. And now I have to effin' wait to find out what happens next. GAH!!!
SOB! JLA is determined to rip my heart out with this series. Hopefully she'll put it all back together in the end. ;-)
Seriously, Dragos and Pia are the best couple of the whole series. LOVE them. And the ending.. so sweet!
